If you’re in business, you’ve probably at least heard of search engine optimization. As a team that offers SEO in Vancouver, we know that optimizing a website isn’t particularly difficult, but it does take ongoing effort. Search engine optimization is about lifting your keyword ranking in Google, and we do that through a process that signals to Google that your page is worth ranking for certain keywords.

Auditing your website

The first thing we do when we begin working with a client is to audit their website. Why aren’t you ranking the way you want? For example, if you’re a plumber in Vancouver, then you probably want to be on the first page when someone enters a query like “plumber Vancouver” or “plumbers in Vancouver.” But how does this happen?

As an SEO agency in Vancouver, our audits focus on three key areas of SEO

  • Technical (the structure of your website)
  • On-page (the content on your pages)
  • Off-page (links and mentions made away from the primary website)

SEO is about establishing credibility. Basically, Google wants to know if you are someone they should recommend for relevant queries, and they do that by measuring your website using a specific set of algorithms.

For the technical structural basis of the website, two of the most important components are user experience and load times.

U/X Experience

Ask yourself, is your website easily navigable? Is it intuitive and easy to use? Does the content clearly explain what it is you do and contain relevant internal linking? When it comes to SEO, the devil is in the details. Implementing a lot of small relevant changes is often what will add up to a successful long-term strategy.

Pro tip: Keep important information front and center. The most relevant information should be on the primary menu pages.

Social Media

Being present on social media is a great way to build links and credibility. At the very least, we recommend Facebook, Twitter, and Liked In. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have much of a following initially. Be friendly, engaging, and authentic. Post about your work and other relevant topics and the following will come.
